Have you ever had an old memory suddenly come up… seemingly out of nowhere? Not a sweet, nostalgic memory. But one of those uncomfortable memories from years ago. A choice you made. Something you said. A way you behaved toward someone. Something you now regret, feel embarrassed by, or even feel ashamed of. And then you wonder... “Where did this come from?” “Why am I thinking about this now?” That happened to me a few days ago. A wave of cringe-worthy memories came up from decades ago. And for a moment, I found myself wondering the same thing: “Why are these memories suddenly popping into my consciousness now?” Then my Higher Self reminded me of something very simple. Memories like this are not random. Thoughts are magnetic Every thought in this universe is magnetic. This means that the thoughts we’ve been broadcasting each carry a vibration. And those vibrations go out and find other thoughts and memories with similar frequencies. So, when these unpleasant memories came up, I realized: “Oh… I did this. I attracted this.” And once I recognized that, I stopped myself. I thought, “Okay. This is not where I want to go. I do not want to keep attracting more memories like this.” Because there was no reason whatsoever to revisit those memories from 30 or 40 years ago. I am no longer that person. I am not even the same person I was last year. I’ve grown. I’ve evolved. I am more aware than I’ve ever been in my life. And I have a deeper appreciation for myself and others. So, if something like this happens to you — if unpleasant memories suddenly pop up and you wonder where they came from — I want you to know: Nothing is wrong. It's not a big deal. You can simply notice… “Oh, I attracted that memory. That’s okay. I don’t have to follow it.” And then you can turn your attention somewhere else. This is something we intuitively understood in Lemurian times.
Think about it... Your Higher Self is fully present now. And from that presence, it is always focused forward. Always. In Lemuria, we didn’t consider the past as something to relive. We understood that the past had helped us become who we were in the present moment. So, our focus was on who we were in that moment… and who we were becoming next. What do I want to create next? What do I want to experience next? Who am I choosing to become now? And we knew the Higher Self was always guiding us forward. Choose where you focus This is why it’s so important to be gentle with yourself when old memories or negative thoughts come up. Negative thoughts can easily attract other negative thoughts. They find each other quickly and say, “Come on over… we want to get a downward spiral going!” But there’s no need to feed the spiral. You can notice the thoughts, bless them, and then refocus your attention on something else. I was inspired to share this because I have a feeling many of us are experiencing things like this right now. And sometimes it helps to have a loving reminder: You are not your past. You are not the version of yourself you once were. You are the consciousness that is here right now, in this moment, evolving into someone who is more aware, more loving, and more aligned with who you truly are. So, if an unpleasant memory comes up today, don’t journey backward with it. Simply say: “Thank you. I know I attracted you, but I am consciously choosing now to focus on something else.” |
A mix of ancient wisdom, practical tips, and helpful insights about healing and spiritual growth—every week in your inbox. For more than 25 years, I’ve been helping spiritual seekers remember who they truly are, consciously connect with their higher selves, and understand why they chose to be here on Earth at this time. I’m a healer, channeler, and co-founder of Lemurian Healing™, a heart-centered healing modality I created with my wife, Mamiko Maridianna. I’ve personally trained more than 1,000 healers in the US, Canada, Japan, China, the UK, Europe, and Australia.
The other day, I reached into the cupboard for one of my favorite coffee mugs. This particular mug says: “Enjoy the journey.” But in that moment, I was not enjoying the journey. And I didn’t want to be reminded to enjoy the journey. So, I chose another mug :) Maybe you can relate. Maybe there’s something in your life you’ve been trying to heal, or create, or change for a long time. Maybe your physical healing is taking much longer than you expected. Maybe you’ve been working to attract more...

Most people misunderstand what a healer actually does. They believe that when healing happens, it’s the doctor, therapist or energy healer who causes it—that Person A did something to create healing in Person B. I’ve been a healer for nearly three decades, and I can tell you very clearly: Healers do not heal people. And neither do doctors. I know how that sounds. So let me explain. In the late 1990s, I served as a volunteer healer at a local hospital. The hospital had a wonderful program....
